Product Description

We’re on a mission to eradicate the world of plastic waste and we want you to be a part of it.
We started our revolution in 2012 when our founder, Brianne, began making natural beauty bars, in her kitchen, as an alternative to the 80 billion plastic shampoo and conditioner bottles thrown out globally each year.
Since then, Ethique has grown out of a Kiwi kitchen into a fully-fledged, award-winning International beauty brand. We’re conquering the beauty world one bar at a time.
Today, we’ve stopped over 3,400,000 plastic bottles ending up in landfills – and that’s just the start of it…
Focus on sustainability

Small changes in product size & weight lead to lower carbon emissions.
We created Compact by Design to identify products that, while they may not always look very different, have a more efficient design. With the removal of excess air and water, products require less packaging and become more efficient to ship. At scale, these small differences in product size and weight lead to significant carbon emission reductions.

Absolutely love the samplers! This was a great way to try this brand. My review is for the hair & body samplers, for the hair I give it 5/5 stars but for the body I give it 2/5 stars.I LOVE the hair sampler pack, you get a great variety to try & I was surprised to find I liked everything I tried in it! I have recently ventured to the shampoo bars & have tried several, some were ok and others were awful. When switching to bars you need to allow time for your hair to adjust (which can be very difficult) since these clean a lot differently & don’t leave residue in your hair. For some bars out there the heavy waxy feeling you get in your hair when you use a bar is actually from whatever you were previously using on your hair. Commercial products leave buildup on your hair, so this is why your hair may feel like that. If you come across this all you need is apple cider vinegar to rinse your hair & it’s supposed to help a lot, I haven’t tried this myself but have read a lot about it. With Ethique since they have conditioner bars, you are coating your hair but it’s definitely better for your hair than the liquid stuff. For my hair I always need a conditioner no matter what. My hair never feels weighed down, waxy or dirty from using these. They smell incredible, left my hair feeling the best it’s ever felt before & they are small which is perfect for traveling! This is now my go-to for my travel bag. I have since bought larger sizes of shampoo & conditioner from them. With the small sizes when you get towards the end of the life of the soap it does tend to crumble which really stinks but there isn’t much you can do about that. Bar soap always tends to do that at the end of it’s life no matter what it is.On to the body sampler, I’m really glad I had this as a sample as I didn’t like much about it. The deodorant bar is great & was by far my favorite thing in it although it gets tricky to use the smaller it gets, still didn’t change my opinion on it as it works great & I felt that my skin improved with using it. The butter block is really nice but goes VERY fast! I used this after shaving & my skin felt great but the bar didn’t last long at all. The bodywash bars & polish were disastrous. I tried to like them, I really wanted to, but I just couldn’t. I ended up trying them a few times & was so disappointed in them I threw them out. Not only do none of them lather (even the “foaming” bodywash) but they were difficult to rub across your skin & I felt that I wasn’t clean at all after using these. Such a disappointment especially after loving the shampoo & conditioner so much! I was sad about this but have since found a great small shop that sells homemade soap that works wonderful.

A great way to try this product lineI have been looking for a shampoo bar brand that works for me and with this, I think I’ve found it. When I started this search, I really was only looking for something that would make carry-on travel a little easier, but these products are so nice that I may switch to them full time. This sample kit came with both conditioners and two of the shampoos that I was wanting to test and all smell wonderful (unlike another line of shampoo bars that I tried in this same quest). The scents for all of them seem to have common themes of citrus and coconut.Of this set, the St. Clements is definitely my favorite shampoo. I have fine, medium thick, slightly wavy hair and it doesn’t take much to weight it down. I have an oily scalp, but sometimes have dry ends. The most I ever make it on a wash is two days (and that’s with a really good shampoo the first day and dry shampoo on the 2nd). I found that the St. Clements shampoo does a good job of controlling scalp oils and leaves my hair feeling very nice. And I can make it through that second day with my usual dry shampoo routine. The Heali Kiwi shampoo is not bad, and I like my hair on the day of washing, but I can’t make it through a second day without re-washing. My hair was a little too oily for me to risk it. I haven’t tried the Frizz Wrangler because I don’t really need any help smoothing, but I’ll probably eventually try it out just for curiosity’s sake.I like both of the conditioners, but I think my favorite ended up being the Wonderbar. The first time I used it, I wasn’t sure it was enough conditioner. It seemed a little lighter than I was used to. But, if I leave it on my hair a little longer before rinsing, it did leave my hair nice and soft after it was dry. And, while it didn’t detangle in the shower quite as much as my bottled conditioner, I didn’t have any trouble combing through my wet hair when I got out. The guardian conditioner is nice as well, and would probably work really well for those who need extra moisturizing. While it’s not as heavy as I feared it would be, it’s a little heavy for me to use with every wash. But I could see using it once a week or so, just for some extra treatment.I ended up purchasing full sized versions of the St. Clements and the Wonderbar, and I also bought the Sweet and Spicy shampoo (not in this set). I do wish that they offered sample sizes of all of their products so that I could only buy the ones I am interested in trying, but this set has a pretty good variety to give you a feel for what their product line is like.

Great product + you can avoid using plasticCardboard packaging is a little flimsy/cheap. I have only used one bar and it reaaly seams to do the trick. My hair feels conditioned and NO PLASTIC used to get the product onto my hair.*UPDATE*Have now used 3 of the little bars. They last approximately 5 uses each. My hair is healthier than ever. My hair is usually quite course and dry. At this point it feels smooth and is growing/the ends are not breaking.*UPDATE*So happy with this product I bought a box for my sister.

Love them.I have only used them once (St Clements and the Guardian) but I am beyond happy. My hair is fried and dried out from over processing with bleach. I usually use a mask once and sometimes twice a week to try help it out.I got these on whim just to try to see if I would like them for travelling. I will definitely be buying the full sized bars and the container. The shampoo took a few extra rubs thru my hair to get the bubble amount I wanted. Felt super clean as I was washing it out. When I used the conditioner, I felt like I wasn’t getting to where I needed to be with the amount I was using. I was wrong. I didn’t have to use as much as I thought. I left it on for a couple minutes before washing it out and it feels great.Again, my hair is super dry, but I think after I get used to these bars they will replace all my bottles I use.I do think they’re a little over priced for what you’re getting, but I guess you pay for quality. I think the full sized bars are a better deal but for me, I wanted to try them out before completely diving in.Edit to add:I really like the st clements and the guardian bars. Not a fan of the heali kiwi (sic?) bar at all.I don’t mind the wonder bar but if you have dry hair then get the guardian bar.I also don’t mind the frizz wrangler bar. I like how sudsy it gets but find that my hair feels cleaner with the St Clements bar.

Not recommended if you want to wash or condition your hairWhen I purchased these for myself and for a gift I had been quite hopeful, as I’ve used many solid shampoos before.I can’t express to you how stagnant the bars each smell. It’s as if they were long past expired by then point they were shipped.I got past my distaste for the smell and tried to use them each to see if perhaps the smell was just natural aromatics. However, the shampoo wouldn’t lather either on my palm (as with Lush) or in my hair (as the packing recommends). The conditioner caught on my hair and wouldn’t glide resulting in an overall disappointing experience.I wouldn’t recommend this product – perhaps unless sold locally.

Pleasantly SurprisedI don’t normally leave reviews, but I had to about this product. I’ve been searching for a waste free bar shampoo and conditioner and they have all fallen short. I have fairly long hair and hard water and these little bars pack a punch. Scent is barely there which makes no difference to me. And the conditioner actually works! I love the the minimal packaging that it come in can go straight into our green bin for compost. Win win. Excellent product and never going back to the bottle.

Lovely light and plastic free!So I’m new to trying bar hair shampoo and conditioner. Thought I’d try this sample box, but then realized most of these are not for my hair type. I have long wavy frizzy hair, sensitive scalp and dry. So I tried the first shampoo bar for frizzy dry hair and it was very nice. Love that these are not overly scented as I get irritated easily by too much scent. The only conditioner bar for me was the normal to dry but I found this to be not quite moisturizing enough for my hair type. I can’t seem to find the frizzy dry full size conditioner bar on amazon.ca ? The other bars for oily hair won’t work for me, the dandruff one I’ll save until I may need it once in a blue moon. Overall I love the idea, design, beautiful light scent and the frizz shampoo bar was amazing. Oh also I need to get used to conditioner in a bar form….I literally dropped that slippery sucker like 10x trying to get it all over my hair lol!!!
