Kraft Paper LidsOur pen lids are made from kraft paper – the same stuff that is often used as a bubble-wrap alternative. It is essentially a rough, un-bleached, paper pulp. This means kraft paper is renewable, recyclable and can even breakdown biologically. Imagine that, bio degradable pen lids! |
Kraft Paper BarrelSimilar to the lid, the barrel is also made from kraft paper. This grade of kraft paper is much thinner and is self adhesive on one side. If you look near the nib you can see how the barrel has been formed by wrapping a coil of kraft paper around the ink chamber. This means that our barrel is a great alternative to plastic and is recyclable and bio degradable! |
Stainless Steel Ink ChamberNo horrid plastic cores in our pens! *While these ink chambers are plastic free, they will not break down biologically. However, they are recyclable! And even if your ink cores do end up in landfill, fear not! Stainless steel corrodes and breaks down over time, meaning your eco pen will eventually return to the earth. |
How do I dispose of my eco pen when it runs out of ink?
However awesome our eco pens may be, they will eventually run our of ink…
But hey, nothings meant to last forever – (looking at you plastic!)
The materials we use make disposal really easy.
- Recycle – Kraft paper and stainless steel are both recyclable, so you can just pop the whole thing in recycling.
- Breaks Down Biologically* – Kraft paper breaks down biologically. If you’re a really keen bean you can separate it from the ink chamber by soaking it in water over night. Unfortunately, the steel ink chamber will still need to go in the recycling.
- Landfill – Don’t worry, we’re all only human. If your eco pen does end up in landfill you can rest easy with the knowledge that it will still eventually degrade and corrode away to dust. Don’t sweat it!

Long lasting pen but uncomfortable gripI loved how long-lasting and sustainable these pens are, all for a reasonable price. However, the writing experience can be improved. I find that my hands get tired quickly when I write a long time. I have to press hard for the ink to come out all the way. I wish there were ballpoint pen options and different colors, like blue. Otherwise, this is a great product!

Less plastic waste, great penThese pens exceeded my expectations. The ink is smooth and writes beautifully. The pen tube is more durable than I expected and it is comfortable. My only hangup is the straw finish on the pen cap, but I do like that it stops the pen from rolling. I have been using these all over my house. I’ve felt bad about using pens for years because of all the plastic waste. Thank you!
